Potato Gratin

Potato Gratin

1 1/2 cup half half
1 sprig fresh thyme
2 russett potatoes
1/4 cup gruyere cheese
1/4 cup parmesan
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Direction

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes either using a mandolin or your knife. Place them in a saucepan with the half and half, thyme, salt and pepper. Let simmer for about 5-7 minutes and take off heat.
  • In a buttered 8X8 pan pour some of the cream down. Place a layer of the potato slices slightly overlapping. Then add the cheeses and some salt and pepper. Repeat 2 more times ending with the cheese on the top.
  • Bake covered with foil for 20 minutes. Then take off the foil and bake for 30 more minutes.
  • If you want the potatoes to be more brown put them under the broiler for a couple of minutes.
